Paul Edward Forrester (c.1951-1986) was a fictional Pulitzer prize winning Seattle-based photographer in the Starman franchise. According to former girlfriend Elizabeth Baines, he was a brilliant photographer who had a lunatic sense of humor, but was also callous and insensitive. She also found him very attractive.
Forrester had had an appendectomy earlier in his life and had a tour of duty of Vietnam, from which he received a scar. He also had bad teeth.
On the last day of his life, Forrester had been hired, at Liz Baines' urging, by Seattle newspaper editor Edward Tanney to photograph events in Managua, Nicaragua. Forrester, however, decided instead that he would photograph the eruption of Mt. Hawthorne in the Cascades. He hired a private helicopter to that end. When the pilot refused to get any closer to the cloud of volcanic ash that was forced from the volcano, Forrester simply offered him more money. As the pilot maneuvered closer to the volcano he encountered a downdraft which caused the helicopter to crash. The pilot was the lone survivor; Forrester was ejected from the helicopter and killed on impact.
Following his death, the Starman, using DNA from Forrester's blood, cloned him and accelerated the growth of that clone, then occupied it. The Starman, now posing as Paul Forrester, rescued the pilot just before the volcano erupted again, covering the helicopter and the body of Forrester in many feet of ash.
Paul Forrester's body was never found.
